À la recherche du thym perdu

Turkish delight

Posted on 2008-May-1 at 02:16

Yesterday was the Queens birthday and today is Ascenscion day. The shops are closed and I forgot to buy extra bread.

Fortunately i have a bag of yeast. It is Turkish yeast. I bought it in a Turkish shop in rotterdam. It has 12 languages, none of which is dutch. The first line is English, second is Russian, third Arabic, then I think Japanese, then there are four which must be Spanish, Italian, Portugese, but I don't know which is which, except French is in between the one I think is Italian and the one that looks most like Portugese. Then comes German, then Greek, and then something that ends with "zat pelarut" which I don't recognize at all. Last but not least there is Turkish.

None of the scandinavian languages and no Dutch either. But I don't really mind, there's enough to choose from already.

The Dutch yeast is only sold in one-portion size packets of which the weight of the wrapping exeeds the weight of the contents. Tell me there is not something wrong with that...

Myself I would go with out bread for the day
I'm too lazy to stir up bread from scratch. Either I would make some muffins or biscuits, but not bread. And the muffins and biscuits don't require yeast. So what did you end up making? Mom says she has plenty of bread. I would run over to her place and pick some up. Happy week-end to you and Super Kid.

Wow, I haven't baked bread from scratch in years. I may have to do that some day.

I love the smell of homemade bread...I however might as well just pack it on my hips and skip the middle man.
